We are seeking an entrepreneurial, motivated and experienced senior attorney to join our dynamic intellectual property and litigation team. Reporting to the Vice President of Intellectual Property and Litigation, you will play an integral role in developing, implementing, and managing 10x’s worldwide intellectual property and litigation strategy, including enforcement of the company’s patents, to achieve key business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop patent litigation and pre-litigation strategies, including infringement, validity, claim construction, enforceability, and freedom-to-operate analysis

  • Work closely with outside counsel and the in-house legal team to formulate case strategy, draft pleadings and briefs, and manage discovery (including e-discovery)

  • Hands-on involvement in interviewing witnesses and preparing them for depositions and trial, and attend key hearings and depositions

  • Perform intellectual property landscaping and freedom to operate analyses in a broad range of scientific and technological areas, with emphasis on life sciences

  • Partner closely with 10x’s business team to develop intellectual property strategies that support the company’s commercial and research & development efforts

  • Perform intellectual property assessments and diligence for key transactions including partnerships and M&A

Minimum Requirements:

  • J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school and admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction

  • Advanced degree in a life science related discipline, such as biology, biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, genetics, or equivalent, is required, Ph.D. preferred

  • 10+ years of experience relating to intellectual property litigation and strategy, preferably relating to the life sciences industry

  • Trial experience in U.S. intellectual property cases, including in U.S. district court and the International Trade Commission

  • Experience in USPTO inter partes reviews and European opposition proceedings

  • Skilled at managing outside counsel in complex, multijurisdictional litigation

  • Excellent writing, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to strategically educate and support fellow employees

  • Self-directed and proactive, comfortable executing on multiple projects independently and in collaboration with others

Below is the base pay range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.
