We are seeking an outstanding Director of Manufacturing to lead the 10x Manufacturing Team in Pleasanton CA.
10x has multiple production lines that rely on a very diverse range of technologies and capabilities. This person will be responsible for these lines and ensure that they function in a world class environment through capacity planning, hiring, process management, operational strategy to ensure that high quality products are manufactured on time, at volume and quality. Other requirements are new technology introduction, continuous improvements and capability, new product transfer, tech transfer to other sites and vendors, managing operational metrics, and effective MRB processes.
The ideal candidate will have a deep technical foundation in process chemistries and life sciences, and proven relevant industrial experience managing the stated requirements.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Leading the Consumables Manufacturing function for 10x Genomics in Pleasanton, CA
- Direct several company critical and uniquely differentiated production lines that supports 10x’s diverse product portfolio
- Establish production strategies to ensure on time completion of work orders, efficient utilization of resources, and delivery of high yielding and high-quality products
- Capacity planning and utilization of people, equipment and facilities
- Drive tech transfer from R&D for new products to vendors and to other manufacturing sites
- Strategic planning and execution on vertical integration programs
- Planning and execution on scale up and automation programs with the engineering and process development teams
- Implementation of statistical analysis on results, specs, correlations, capabilities
- Enable fast time to market by partnering with the product development teams and pulling in capabilities and assisting product development
- Hire the best-in-class team to cover a broad range of competencies Business management and planning will include budgeting for people, capital, facilities, as well as quarterly reporting, and strategic planning on future capabilities
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Material Science or a related field; M.S. or B.S. with equivalent technical experience to Ph.D. is acceptable
- 15 years of relevant experience in the life sciences with experience in areas of formulation, fill, kitting, organic synthesis, injection molding, assembly and test, wafer handling and process automation
- Knowledge of product characterization and in-process testing methods
- 5 years managing multiple production teams
- Experience working within a quality standard such as GMP, ISO9001 or ISO13485
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, teamwork and a passion to develop leading edge products and capabilities

Below is the base pay range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.
