10x Genomics is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our Quality team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, a passion for life sciences, and the ability to design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and quality of our data, enabling our researchers and scientists to make data-driven decisions.

What you will be doing:

  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines to process, clean, and transform large volumes of data from various sources.
  • Contribute to the design, development and maintenance tools to automate workflows to improve data collection, verification and upload.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, customer-facing support teams, finance, logistics, manufacturing engineering, quality, and R&D to understand data requirements and ensure data is readily available for analysis.
  • Implement and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to support data integration and analysis.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing data validation, cleansing, and monitoring processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to data workflows.
  • Continuously collaborate to evaluate and adopt new technologies and tools to improve data engineering processes and efficiency.
  • Document data engineering processes, standards, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years proven experience in data analysis, preferably in the life sciences or healthcare industry.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Experience with ETL tools (e.g., MS Power Query, Apache NiFi, Talend, Informatica).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and services (e.g., Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure Data Factory).
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with bioinformatics data and tools.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data processing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and data analytics techniques.
  • Understanding of data governance and regulatory requirements in the life sciences industry.
  • Experience in user interface design for desktop and mobile applications.
  • Fluency in statistical methods to support design of experiments in root cause analysis.

Below is the base pay range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.
