We are looking for an outstanding individual to join the Molecular Biology team as a Senior Research Associate (contract). The ideal candidate will have a proven track-record of developing innovative molecular biology protocols for solving complex biological problems. You should be driven by making great products and enjoy working in a fast-paced, innovative and truly multi-disciplinary environment. You will interact closely with colleagues in computational biology, chemistry and microfluidics, and apply your skills and knowledge to optimize and evaluate new assays in the area of Single Cell Multiomics.
This a contract role.
What you will be doing:
- Support the method development and optimization of novel molecular biology assay schemes for single cell applications including molecular barcoding, nucleic acid amplification, and NGS library preparation
- Develop a deep understanding of the interplay between molecular biology, chemistry, and microfluidics
- Plan and perform experiments, and analyze their subsequent data with minimal guidance
- Report these results through documentation and presentations
- Accurate recording of experimental details, determining root cause of product deviations and troubleshooting them
- Participate in optimization and troubleshooting of different tissue samples
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- BS/MS in molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field and 2+ years of full-time, hands-on molecular biology experience in an academic or industrial setting
- Proficient in standard molecular biology techniques such as cell/tissue preparation, nucleic acid purification (RNA/DNA) and amplification, qPCR, and DNA sequencing
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets and communicate results in a clear and concise manner
- Experience with NGS library preparation and familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel, Jump, R
- Experience in troubleshooting and optimization of molecular biology assays
- Familiarity with multichannel pipetting and lab best practices for avoiding nucleic acid cross-contamination
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
Additional desirable skills to have:
- Single Cell Transcriptomics library preparation using droplet based chemistry
- Experience with different types of tissue specimens
- Experience with statistical design, modeling and use of design of experiment (DOE) approaches
Below is the base pay range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.
