10x Genomics is looking for a Staff Data Engineer to join a talented business solutions organization wanting to develop innovative systemic analytics to support business strategies. We are building an organization of top talent focused on supporting effective functional business processes by enhancing business workflow and systems. We want a staff data engineer to enable data driven decision-making through analytics to support growth business challenges to support 10x scalability. Join us and lead the design and enablement of our quantifiable foundational analytics and Ux supporting our critical kaizen project funnel for the productivity engineering team.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Join as primary source of analytics and Ux engineering projects, from ideation to deployment and monitoring, driving successful outcomes and high service level.
- Creation of cutting edge Ux for business analytics to drive support for companies’ kaizen project funnel, across all business functions from within productivity engineering team.
- Designing and developing system and process improvements to make analytics highly functional user friendly with interfaces, algorithms, and machine learning.
- Support designs and deliverables with high-quality design flows and documentation.
- Proactive problem solving and systematic job monitoring. Identification and resolving data-related issues, optimizing processes, and improving analytics infrastructure.
- Analytics architecture and support, navigating loosely defined problems, applying structured thinking to design scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective solutions.
- Leverage Snowflake as company system of record, building from the platform, but also external data sources not yet included in company database vision.
- Assist with the delivery of projects - on schedule, budget, quality, and scope following defined processes/controls.
- Accountable for documented statement of work proposals following idea intake. Ensure complete BRD, project estimates, user guides, configuration guides, and UAT definition.
- Ensures the highest quality and stability in designs and implementations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree. Ideally a master’s in computer science, engineering, or equivalent
- 10 years’ development experience in analytics, data engineering, Ux design, or related.
- Programming skills in Python, SQL, or similar languages.
- Experience with data visualization strategies, methods and tools
- Experience with analytics enabling platforms (i.e. Snowflake, Retool, PowerBI, Tableau).
- Experience in data modeling and performance optimization techniques.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven excellent communication and collaborator; problem-solving, listening, influencer, building strong relationships. Providing solutions for intent by understanding need.
- Proven expert in creation of data accessibility and intuitive user experience.
- Comfortable in ideation environment and high collaboration with top talent colleagues.
- Confident familiarity with LLM machine learning and statistical modeling techniques.

Below is the base pay range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.
