Position: Medical Biller
Job Type: Full-time
4 days a week, possibility for a hybrid position with 2 or more days at home.
Experienced billers, starting pay 18-20 per hour
Coding & Billing:
- Generate and submit accurate electronic or paper claims to insurance companies.
- Ensure compliance with coding and billing regulations and guidelines.
Claim Follow-up:
- Track and follow up on submitted claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Investigate and resolve claim denials, rejections, and discrepancies.
Insurance Verification:
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility.
- Communicate with insurance providers to resolve issues related to claims.
Patient Billing:
- Generate patient statements and invoices.
- Assist patients with understanding their bills and setting up payment plans if necessary.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of billing and coding activities.
- Document all interactions with insurance companies, patients, and providers.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present financial reports related to billing and collections.
- Assist in analyzing revenue cycle data and identifying areas for improvement.
Compliance:
- Stay updated on healthcare industry regulations and changes in coding/billing guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and other relevant laws.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical billing preferred.
- Proven experience as a medical biller in a family practice or similar healthcare setting.
- Proficient in medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and billing software.
- Strong knowledge of insurance procedures, regulations, and reimbursement practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
