About the position

Altruist is a hyper-growth fintech company on a mission to make financial advice better, more accessible, and affordable. It’s building a revolutionary platform that reduces barriers to entry into wealth creation and management for financial advisors and their clients. Using Altruist, advisors can work more efficiently and reduce costs, enabling them to help more people.

The Experience team is a newly-formed group of engineers, designers, QA, and Product with two responsibilities. First, it ensures the highest quality user experience for advisors' clients on the Altruist platform, managing both the client mobile and web app code bases. Second, it spearheads product initiatives that impact all facets of the advisor platform. Its areas of ownership include the design system, enhancing developer productivity, and implementing horizontal features like search. The team operates with well-defined goals, KPIs, and strong support from the entire company.

What you’ll do

  • Work with Product, and Design to refine requirements and turn them into high-quality product launches
  • Work with Product and your manager to create half-year project roadmaps
  • Lead the definition, development, and adoption of web platform initiatives in alignment with team KPIs
  • Work on both the front-end and the presentation layer of the back-end
  • Coach and mentor junior developers and take responsibility for meeting deadlines for your team’s deliverables
  • Lead with engineering best practices and make decisions based on definable metrics
  • Promote a culture of quality, accountability, autonomy, and open communication across teams

What you’ll bring

  • 8+ years of front-end development experience with React or equivalent
  • 4+ years of back-end development experience with Node.js or equivalent
  • Fluency in writing technical documentation and in seeking feedback and alignment
  • Experience building front-end features in a modular and scalable fashion
  • Experience with GraphQL and Git
  • Experience building, testing, and deploying React applications to production.
  • Experience using application monitoring tools like New Relic/Data Dog to keep error rates low and ensure high uptime for all of our systems
  • Strong understanding of responsive design principles and experience implementing them
  • Experience maintaining code quality by measuring unit/integration tests, as well as other critical code quality metrics
  • Experience in the CI/CD world and the ability to use it without causing a negative impact on our business or end user's experience

Total compensation includes a competitive benefits package along with equity in the form of Stock Options (ISOs).
