The Opportunity:

Altruist is in the midst of an exceptional growth phase and we’re excited to hire a Sr. QA Engineer to join our growing Data team.

Your impact:

  • Create test scripts and test plans to enable streamlined data testing practice
  • Analyze and organize raw data
  • Conducting detailed source-to-destination data testing; identifying issues with data integrity, data accuracy, and transformation logic
  • Validate transformation hierarchy and cleanup rules
  • Test data and solutions against business requirements to assure alignment between businesses needs, the written requirements and the solution delivered.
  • Proactively assess risks and help to find issues as early as possible
  • Create new and maintain existing documentation for testing the team’s solutions
  • Designing, developing, and improving automated code/data testing & reporting systems
  • Proactively suggest, plan, and integrate new tools and methods to improve what can be tested and what automations can be performed
  • Skills in ensuring that data transformations and aggregations maintain consistency across systems and time periods
  • Techniques for testing data completeness, including identifying null or missing values across pipelines
  • Testing upstream and downstream dependencies to ensure that data transformations are correctly propagated across services
  • Validating data lineage to ensure data's journey through the pipeline is traceable and correct
  • Identify and communicate when QA processes are not being adhered to or when insufficient data quality conditions exist in a project or process.
  • Display a ‘test to break’ attitude, and a drive toward 100% data accuracy.
  • Possess a strong desire for quality and attention to detail.
  • Partnering closely with the product owner development teams to understand requirements and appropriate use cases
  • Reporting defects to project teams as they are identified
  • Manage multiple project tasks simultaneously

What you bring

  • 6+ years of industry experience in data engineering and Quality Assurance.
  • Ability to identify/triage/isolate bugs in software systems
  • Hands-on experience working with automation for regression
  • Extensive experience using SQL to perform queries/analysis on database systems
  • Preferred: Experience designing & implementing automated testing systems
  • Experience working in an Agile project team setting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with Snowflake preferred
  • Experience in writing test cases to validate data quality
  • Experience in financial services a plus
  • Preferred: Knowledge in AWS (S3, Airflow), Gitlab
  • Familiarity/Experience in database testing tools like DBT or Great Expectations
  • Ability to perform integration testing of data pipelines and the services that consume them
San Francisco, CA salary range
$170,000$225,000 USD

Total compensation includes a competitive benefits package along with equity in the form of Stock Options (ISOs). A salary offer will be determined by a number of factors including experience, skill level, internal pay equity, geographic location, and other relevant business considerations.
