We are seeking theorists in the fields of quantum error correction, atomic physics, and quantum algorithms to contribute to the architecture and applications of neutral atom quantum computers.
At Atom Computing, you will work alongside our Quantum Engineering, Control Systems, and Software teams to demonstrate the power of scalable, neutral-atom quantum computers.
Candidates will also be considered for Atom's location in Austin, TX and Boulder, CO. Under exceptional circumstances we may allow the position to be fully remote.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Developing and optimizing quantum error correction schemes for gate-based atomic array quantum computers
  • Conduct independent and collaborative theoretical and computational projects revolving around neutral atom quantum computing.
  • Contribute to the design and system engineering of future atomic array quantum computers.
  • Develop algorithms and applications of quantum computing, with a focus on fault-tolerant applications on neutral atom quantum computers.

Experience & Education

  • PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with quantum error correction, atomic physics, and/or quantum algorithms.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to translate concepts into demonstrations running on actual quantum computing hardware.
  • Temperamentally suited to work at a fast-growing, early stage startup: self-motivated, humble, driven, collaborative, and has a high tolerance for ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse team of experimental physicists, hardware, and software engineers.
  • Familiarity with Python and Git software version control

The base salary range for this position is between $125,000 - $200,000, commensurate with experience. In addition to salary, we offer an annual bonus and equity in the company.
