Job Description Summary

The AD, Content Approval & Process Excellence role is an opportunity to own and elevate the operational strategy and performance of the US Material Approval Process (MAP), enabling promotional content to move from planning to approval faster, smarter, and compliantly - at scale. This role partners across Brand, Agency, Medical, Legal, and Regulatory teams to shape demand, set priorities, manage risk, raise submission quality, and compress cycle time --unlocking faster speed to market, stronger compliance readiness, and a more predictable content supply chain. It is also a unique opportunity to drive transformational change from within by modernizing ways of working, accelerating adoption of digital enablement, and building a culture of continuous improvement.

This position will be located in East Hanover, NJ and will not have the ability to be located remotely. Relocation may be possible and requires necessary approval. This position will require up to 5% travel as defined by the business (domestic and/or international).


Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • End‑to‑End Material Approval Process Oversight: Lead end‑to‑end MAP execution, ensuring seamless orchestration, quality outcomes, and on‑time approvals.
  • Issue Resolution & Flow Management: Proactively remove barriers by resolving dependencies and escalating issues to keep materials moving.
  • Demand Visibility, Forecasting & Prioritization: Translate campaign plans into MAP demand forecasts, timelines, and readiness milestones
  • Work Prioritization & Capacity Alignment: Balance priorities, capacity, and risk to prevent backlogs and unplanned escalation.
  • Quality & Compliance Readiness: Ensure submission readiness through standards, coaching, and documentation to reduce rework and remain audit‑ready
  • Claims & Content Re‑use Governance: Enable compliant reuse through standardized, templated claims and scalable content models
  • Process Improvement Initiative Leadership: Drive continuous MAP improvements using data, KPIs, and insights to deliver measurable performance gains.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; focus in Business, Marketing, Digital Media, or Communications preferred.

  • At least 5 years’ marketing operations experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry and/or in a digital marketing operations role.

  • Product launch expertise in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry with working knowledge of FDA guidance for industry & promotional review/ approval process (PRC, MLR, MAP).

  • Deep understanding of process optimization and asset creation with strong leadership and motivational skills as well as the ability to inspire change.

  • Excellent planning, forecasting and negotiation skills.

  • Demonstrated matrix management skills; ability to work with cross-functional teams and influence decision-making

  • Proven ability to operate under, and apply, Agile Methodology.

  • Proficiency in MLR process and systems, including but not limited to Veeva PromoMats, Aprimo Marketing Cloud or similar DAM/workflow.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Pharmaceutical manufacturer or pharma ad agency experience is highly preferred with functional experience in regulatory, medical, marketing operations, sales or communications

  • Skilled in channel execution applications: Drupal and SFMC

Novartis Compensation Summary:

The salary for this position is expected to range between $145,600 and $270,400 per year.

The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.

Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
