This position is primarily a lab-based role, working on-site in our office and laboratory in Seattle’s Eastlake neighborhood, and will be reporting to the Director, Research & Development. This role will develop research strategies that span the design and assessment of innovative potency enhanced CAR and TCR based T cell therapies. The role will involve discovering and assessing diverse potency enhancement components and strategies that support product conceptualization and development. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding scientist with experience in the cell and gene therapy field, who has demonstrated scientific excellence, a strong sense of curiosity, and a proven capacity for working collaboratively with a ‘team science’ mindset to tackle the myriad of challenges that come with developing cell therapies.
A typical day may involve the following activities:
· Designing, generating, and assessing (in vitro and in vivo) novel CAR and TCR architectures.
· Developing in vitro and/or in vivo screening platforms to enable discovery and assessment of potency enhancement strategies.
· Compiling, analyzing, and presenting data to various audiences, including executive leadership, advisory boards, founders, and external collaborators.
· Serving on cross-functional project teams and actively engaging in team discussions.
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:
· PhD degree in protein engineering, genetics, immunology, or related disciplines
- Established knowledge and technical proficiency in engineered T cell biology and related in vitro and in vivo characterization and functional assessments, with preferential experience in utilizing 1) viral vector design for targeted T cell engineering; 2) various protein modeling tools (e.g., AlphaFold, PyMol) for protein design; 3) in vitro and/or in vivo screening platforms for functional assessment of potency enhanced T cells; and 4) gene editing tools for T cell engineering.
- Demonstrated track record of producing high quality scientific results as an individual contributor.
- Excellent organization and communication skills (written and oral) to meet deadlines and balance time and effort across multiple workstreams.
- Enthusiasm for creative, solution-oriented thinking and working collaboratively in a team environment.
