The Managing Director Relationship Manager (RM) acts as the central point of business contact for assigned client "plan sponsor" relationships for both clients and internal personnel. The RM is accountable for ownership of assigned client relationships (typically at the C-suite level and revenue greater than $500M) that includes strategy, overall service delivery, evaluating, improving and managing client satisfaction and risk / retention efforts, and client P&L evaluation and management.

This RM will focus exclusively on Taft-Hartley plans.

What you will do

  • Maintain client relationships and enhance overall client satisfaction, actively reducing risk of client loss and improving the financial viability of client relationships

  • Enhance revenue and work with internal partners to improve plan relationship efficiency

  • Reinforce assigned clients’ buying decision and strengthen overall client relationships

  • Hold consistent client meetings, working with internal SMEs and the service team to bring Empower’s best thinking to the clients in the areas of plan design, funding, administration, participant communications, compliance, fiduciary governance and industry trends

  • Identify and effectively report key indicators, recommend solutions and identify opportunities to leverage talent and relationships to retain and enhance the relationship critically important part of the role

  • Deliver periodic plan statistical, regulatory/legislative, and industry trending presentation to clients – both via phone and in person

  • Partner with internal shared services team to effectively support the client to meet all contractual requirements and improve client satisfaction and profitability

  • Work with the client service team to develop, present to the client and implement client business planning deliverables

  • Leadership – peer coaching and tactical execution on key initiatives

  • Participate in new business finals presentations and client site visits; building rapport with clients and managing client expectations beginning with the sales process and continuing throughout the relationship

  • Possess a deep understanding of clients’ needs, aligning those needs to business plans and ensure implementation with high quality execution

  • Leverage and showcase in-depth knowledge of the company’s products and services with the client to enhance service to the plan sponsors and key stakeholders

  • Serve as an expert to leadership on the plans with extensive knowledge to anticipate challenges and issues and recommends product/process/service improvement

  • Proactively identify and determine solutions for the most complex problems that impact business success and management

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or equivalent work experience

  • 12+ years of industry and/or RM experience

  • 2+ years experience working with the most senior leaders and key clients

  • Prior experience with mega corporate or segment market client relationships

  • Understanding and being conversant on revenue and expense variables associated with client relationships

  • Understanding of investment management products and services

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentations skills, building partnerships internally and externally including plan sponsors, consultants, key stakeholders and business leaders

  • Ability to build rapport with clients and proactively manage client expectations

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate remote teams, and hold accountable in an organization that is evolving its strategy

  • Working independently and being resourceful

  • Effective time and project management skills

  • Critical thinking and decision making

  • Customer centric orientation

  • FINRA Series 6 and 63 & other industry specific registrations/licenses required within established timelines

  • FINRA fingerprinting

Base Salary Range

$130,000.00 - $188,500.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
