This Sr Director Indirect Technical Procurement leads this portion of the Procurement group across the enterprise. This leader is responsible for defining and executing strategy, managing supplier relationships, optimizing cost and service, mitigating technology sourcing risk, and partnering across IT, operations, business units, procurement, and finance. This role reports into Chief Procurement Officer (CPO).
What you will do:
- Develop and lead the enterprise strategy for indirect technology procurement: categories such as software licensing / SaaS, cloud services, IT infrastructure services, telecom, hardware (non-product), digital/IT professional services, Managed Services.
- Establish category management for all technology-related indirect spend: perform spend analysis, market intelligence, sourcing strategy, supplier segmentation, negotiation and contracting, supplier performance and lifecycle management.
- Build strong strategic relationships with technology vendors and service providers; negotiate best‐in‐class commercial terms, service level agreements (SLAs), subscription, and licensing models, and manage renewal/true-up cycles.
- Partner with internal stakeholders — IT, Finance, Legal, InfoSec, Product, Digital, Supply Chain — to align procurement initiatives with business and technology strategy, ensure compliance with policy, and manage budgets and demand.
- Drive cost savings, value creation, and efficiency within technology indirect spend: identify opportunities for consolidation, rationalization, standardization, reuse and cost avoidance; monitor savings pipelines and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Manage risk related to technology sourcing: vendor risk (including cybersecurity, data/privacy, service continuity), contract risk (licensing non-compliance, audit exposure), market risk (emerging technologies, supply constraints) and compliance (vendor certification, regulatory).
- Lead the selection, implementation and maturation of procurement tools/technology/processes specific to technology sourcing: e-sourcing, contract lifecycle management, vendor performance dashboards, discovery of technology services, telemetry on spend, etc.
- Build, develop and lead the technology procurement team: define organization structure, hire top talent, set objectives, drive performance, embed category expertise, and cultivate a culture of procurement excellence and collaboration.
- Define procurement policies, guidelines and governance frameworks for technology indirect categories, ensure adherence to standards (procurement policy, ethics, ESG, supplier diversity) and drive continuous improvement.
- Monitor performance via key metrics and reporting: % of spend under contract, cost savings, supplier delivery/quality metrics, sourcing cycle times, stakeholder satisfaction, risk incidents. Present results to senior leadership and propose corrective actions or strategic pivots when needed.
- Stay current with trends in technology sourcing (e.g., SaaS/subscription models, cloud, IoT, digital services, telecom shifts), licensing models, vendor business models, marketplace dynamics and emerging technology disruptors. Use this insight to inform category strategy.
Success Metrics / KPIs
- Annual cost savings and cost avoidance achieved in indirect technology categories.
- Percentage of indirect technology spend under strategic contract and procurement oversight.
- Supplier performance: adherence to SLAs, service quality, on-time delivery.
- Cycle times and process efficiency: time to source/contract/renew technology services, time to onboard vendor.
- Risk reduction: number of vendor risk incidents, audit findings, compliance breaches in technology sourcing.
- Stakeholder satisfaction: business units’ satisfaction with procurement’s responsiveness, alignment, and value add.
- Team development: procurement team capability maturity (skills, category depth), internal adoption of procurement processes/tools.
Reporting & Working Relationships
- Reports to: Chief Procurement Officer (CPO)
- Direct reports: Category leads (software/SaaS, cloud/IT services, telecom, hardware services), supplier managers, procurement operations and analytics team.
- Internal stakeholders: IT leadership (CIO, InfoSec), Legal, Finance, Business Unit leaders, Digital/Product teams, Operations.
- External: Technology vendors, service providers, managed service partners, contracting/legal advisors.
- Travel: May be required domestically and internationally to meet with key suppliers, attend procurement/technology conferences, collaborate with global teams.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain/Procurement, Information Technology, Finance or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Extensive experience (typically 12-15+ years) in procurement/sourcing roles, with a substantial portion of that in technology or IT‐services procurement (non-product).
- Proven record of leadership in strategic sourcing for technology categories: software, cloud, telecom, managed services, infrastructure, professional services.
- Strong negotiation, contracting and supplier management skills in a technology context: familiarity with software licensing models (enterprise agreements, subscriptions, SaaS), cloud contracts, telecom service agreements.
- Demonstrated ability to generate cost savings, value creation and manage large indirect technology budgets and vendor estates.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills: able to influence IT leadership, business units, procurement, legal and finance.
- Analytical skills: ability to perform spend analytics, market intelligence, cost modelling, supplier benchmarking, risk assessments.
- Experience implementing or working with procurement technology tools (e-sourcing, CLM, vendor performance dashboards) and use of data to drive decisions.
- Leadership skills: ability to build, mentor and lead teams; drive change in a dynamic environment; manage through ambiguity.
- Knowledge of best practices in procurement, category management, contract governance, risk management in technology sourcing.
- Certifications (optional but a plus): CPSM, CIPS, CPM, procurement/contracting certifications, or technology sourcing credentials.
- Experience in global procurement and multi-currency/multi-region sourcing of technology services highly desired.
- Strong change management experience: driving procurement maturity, implementing new tools/processes, embedding procurement in technology sourcing cycles preferred.
- Good business acumen: ability to speak the language of IT, business, finance—not just procurement, is a plus.
- Experience with vendor ecosystems in high-tech domains (cloud, SaaS, telecom, digital services) and familiarity with technology market trends (e.g., AI, edge, 5G) is desired.
- Experience managing vendor risk across cybersecurity, data privacy, licensing audits, service continuity preferred.
- Strong ethical, ESG and supplier-diversity mindset: ensuring responsible sourcing of technology services and alignment with company values is a plus.

Base Salary Range
$151,800.00 - $220,050.00The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
