The purpose of this job is to provide solutions in direct support of Empower’s data strategy. Developing on AWS, and on-premises data stores, deliver high quality, efficient and performant data patterns for consumption by various data warehouses, marts and BI environments. Proficiency in Python, ETL methodologies, SQL and Big Data solutions is critical for success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Design, code, and test software features and components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and refine software requirements.
• Spearhead coding efforts for specific modules or features.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues.
• Participate in code reviews and enforce coding standards.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and design discussions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (Information Systems, Mathematics, Software Engineering)
• 2 - 6 years of software development experience preferably in a Data related field.
• Proficiency in ETL development and design using Python, Big Data (Hadoop/SPARK)
• Strong SQL knowledge, RDBMS experience on any recognized database (Aurora, MySQL, Postgres, Redshift).
• Experience on the AWS platform
• Understanding of dimensional model and ER designs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and Agile Methodology
• Exposure to Data Warehouse principles.
• Collaborates with colleagues regarding development best practices and/or data application issues.
• Advises and works on strategic initiatives to mitigate and/or alleviate core data application issues, including opportunities for process automation.
• Operates independently with some latitude for un-reviewed actions or decisions. Completes other duties as assigned.
• 3-6 Years of programming experience in data environments preffered
• 2 Years IT in financial or other highly regulated industry preffered
• Use of JIRA in Agile development preffered
