About Syllo
Syllo is on a mission to transform litigation. Our product is a unified litigation platform that enables lawyers and paralegals to safely harness the power of language models and agentic AI throughout the litigation life cycle. Since going to market, we have gained a diverse group of enterprise customers, including some of the biggest law firms and corporations in the country, and we are quickly expanding. By reducing the expense of litigation industry-wide, we aim to improve access to high-quality representation and promote the alignment of legal outcomes with merit.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Staff Engineer to take ownership of cloud costs at Syllo and drive cost improvements across our engineering organization. They will contribute directly to technical design and implementation but also bring a FinOps mindset, treating cost as a first-class engineering concern, while fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment where engineers can grow, learn, and thrive. Just as Syllo reduces the cost of litigation for our customers, this role ensures we run our own platform with the same discipline.
Responsibilities

- Provide technical leadership and mentorship especially around socializing the FinOps mindset across the broader Engineering team.
- Design, implement, and manage scalable cloud-based infrastructure using Kubernetes, Pub/Sub, and other relevant technologies.
- Collaborate with our AI team to optimize data pipelines and integrate AI technologies to remove performance bottlenecks.
- Refactor existing systems to enhance scalability, including transforming stateful components into stateless ones, and applying extensive autoscaling and auto-repair mechanisms.
- Drive platform reliability initiatives, including enhancing alerting, health checking, and incident management.
- Ensure the platform meets rigorous testing and security standards to maintain data integrity and security.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure meeting SLAs.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated success leading FinOps or cloud cost-optimization initiatives including establishing cost governance, driving cross-functional adoption, and delivering quantifiable savings at scale.
- Core software engineering skills, including proficiency in languages such as Python and Ruby.
- Strong system administration experience, including fluency with Linux, networking, and bash scripting.
- Proficiency with GCP.
- Proficiency with cloud tools and distributed systems, such as Kubernetes, Kafka, Postgres, and Elasticsearch, or equivalent technologies.
- Ability to design and implement scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience addressing scaling challenges and resource contention in distributed systems.
- Expertise in cloud data security
