About The Role
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will join TAE Technologies' multidisciplinary Mechanical Engineering Department, contributing to innovative projects like nuclear fusion, particle accelerators for cancer therapy, and vehicle electrification. This role will lead the design and fabrication of systems, applying expertise in mechanical engineering, project management, and analysis to support groundbreaking technologies.
The role requires 100% onsite presence to collaborate with the Design Team.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Physics, and Operations teams to define and clarify project requirements.
- Scope, design, and conduct basic analysis on experimental subsystems.
- Organize and lead multidisciplinary project teams while providing cost and schedule estimates.
- Coordinate closely with design engineers and analysis experts.
- Write and review technical specifications and procedural documentation.
- Support the selection of suitable manufacturers and manage procurement-related processes.
- Oversee the development of purchase orders and monitor the fabrication and delivery process.
- Participate in system installation and commissioning activities.
- Occasional travel may be required.
About You
- 12+ years of experience in the design and fabrication of large components in industries such as aerospace, nuclear, automotive, proton therapy, petroleum, or national laboratories.
- Experience with neutral beams and particle accelerators preferred.
- Familiarity with high-voltage design principles.
- Proven track record in a research and development environment.
- Strong foundational knowledge in mechanical engineering principles such as structural mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
- Experience using project management techniques for coordinating technical teams and small projects.
Education
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Additional degrees or coursework in physics, aerospace engineering, or electrical engineering are a plus.
At TAE Technologies, we consider a wide range of factors when making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and job-related knowledge, training; licenses and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements depending on the position offered (non-Sr., Sr., Lead or Manager). The compensation range for these roles are $80,000-$150,000.
