TAE Technologies is a leader in commercial fusion energy, founded in 1998 with a mission to deliver clean, sustainable energy to the world. Using our proprietary Field Reversed Configuration (FRC) technology, we are advancing toward the commercialization of aneutronic hydrogen-boron fusion. As we transition from the Norm to the Da Vinci commercial prototype, we seek dedicated professionals to support our critical experimental operations.

The Junior Researcher will provide support to Scientists in their corresponding group for ongoing plasma physics related endeavors. Additional duties will include experimental design and execution, results communication, and participation in fusion machine operations.

About the Job

• This is an entry level position supporting plasma fusion research in the experimental program of TAE Technologies’ Fusion Power research division.
• The candidate will be part of the Plasma Diagnostic group.
• All Junior Researchers will also actively participate the Fusion Power research program by designing and performing experiments, performing data analysis, occasional machine operation time, building and troubleshooting diagnostics and communication of scientific results both in small groups and the fusion department at large.

About You

Ideal candidate will have experience building, deploying and troubleshooting diagnostics systems on a plasma research device.

Technical Experience (Equipment, Tools, etc.):

• Previous hands-on laboratory research experience (> 1 year) is required.
• Experience with standard laboratory diagnostics including; multimeters, oscilloscopes, and function generators.
• Experience with Digital acquisition systems, DAQ’s
• Public presentations of prior work

Software Knowledge and Skills Required:

Experience using one or more of the following:

• Scientific analysis and data visualization using Python
  • Optional: IDL, MATLAB, SQL, MDS+, C++

Other Desirable Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Experience with utilizing diagnostics on plasma devices.
• Experience with thermocouples, RTD’s, pyro-bolometers.
• Extra Credit: Thermo-optical arrays

Education:

Required: B.S. Physics or Engineering Discipline

At TAE Technologies, we consider a wide range of factors when making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and job-related knowledge, training; licenses and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements depending on the position offered . $30.00 -$35.00 hourly
